This piece is part of my "Sacred Places" series. An exploration of man's quest for something greater than himself, his/her spirituality. This piece is about how people begin to feel the draw for something greater and begin to seek this at various temples and places of worship, represented by the spires in the center of the piece. As the quest continues people finally begin to realize that this "something greater" is not actually found outside, but inside themselves. This is why the spires are place at the center to the piece.

It is made of Mahogany with the spires (left to right) are made of Yellowheart, Kingwood, Spalted Tamarind, African Blackwood and Yew.

This was created on a wood lathe. It was turned on both sides of the piece. Each side has different texturing and design to them. The piece was sanded and a multi-step finishing process was applied. Then it was moved over to the bandsaw where the it was deconstructed and then finally reassembled in a completely new concept.

I have four basic goals that I strive to achieve with my work:
• Design and create pieces that complement the wood.
• Explore the concept of creating a sense of movement with an inanimate object.
• Design pieces in such a way as to visually “stretch” portions of the piece to appear either larger, smaller or a different shape that it actually is. (This applies primarily to my sculptural work and my wall hangings.)
• Be as ecologically responsible as possible with my woodwork. I use as much salvage as possible and much of my other material is grown specifically for commercial purposes.

This piece would look spectacular in your office, dining room, bedroom or the lobby of your business.

All woods can have natural cracks and voids and these are not considered defects. It was hand sculpted on my lathe by me. Like any natural wood product, it should not be placed in direct sunlight for long periods.
Shipping says it takes 3-5 days to process. I am usually much quicker than that and often ship the next business day. I say 3-5 in case I am traveling out of town.
All sizes are approximate and may vary by 1/8".
