Utilizing the natural edge of a piece of wood, particularly a burl, is a challenge in and of itself. Not only does it present certain inherent dangers in the turning process, (sharp edges, out of balance starting points and possible structural weaknesses) it is also more difficult to achieve a visual synergy with the finished piece. |
