Sun, Earth and Moon
This is a very large, impressive piece. It is called “Sun, Earth and Moon” and is made out of recycled Redwood (from a storm damaged tree). It is sculpted from a single large slab of Redwood. I cut it into 3 pieces then turned each of them on my lathe prior to segmenting each piece and reintegrating them into a single cohesive unit. My inspiration was seeing the moon while watching the sunrise early one morning.

I have four basic goals that I strive to achieve with my work:
• Design and create pieces that complement the wood.
• Explore the concept of creating a sense of movement with an inanimate object.
• Design pieces in such a way as to visually “stretch” portions of the piece to appear either larger, smaller or a different shape that it actually is. (This applies primarily to my sculptural work and my wall hangings.)
• Be as ecologically responsible as possible with my woodwork. I use as much salvage as possible and much of my other material is grown specifically for commercial purposes.

It is 63” tall, 27” wide (at widest) and 2 ½” thick.

It is pre-hung with eye hooks and wire on the back.

This piece would look spectacular on the wall in your office, dining room, bedroom or the lobby of your business.
